I’m Lizzy — a writer, journalist, and storyteller with a particular interest in the ordinary and the overlooked.
I’ve spent years writing for newspapers, magazines, and online publications — covering everything from culture and politics to the kind of human-interest stories that don’t fit neatly into any category. The ones I like best are usually about people doing something quietly remarkable, or about the small details of everyday life that turn out to be more interesting than they first appear.
This site is where I write for myself. No brief, no word count, no editor waiting on a draft. Just things I’ve been thinking about, noticing, or trying to work out by putting them into sentences. Some of it is personal. Some of it is commentary. Some of it is just an attempt to describe something accurately.
I believe good writing is mostly about paying attention — to language, to people, to the world. I’m still learning how to do it properly. I suspect that’s the point.
My journalism and features have appeared in a range of publications. I write about culture, society, ideas, and the occasional thing that doesn’t fit anywhere else.
